Pagus:Africa works at a grassroots level to support children through sponsorship, scholarship, and extra-curricular programs. The ultimate aim of which is to develop critical thinking and leadership skills and a heart for helping others.
Pagus was established in 1996 as a non-profit gallery (Pagus Gallery) and outreach program in Norristown PA. In 2004, after founders Ellen Berenholz and Timothy Hawkesworth were introduced to the challenges faced by the people in the Volta Region in Ghana, they were compelled to extend their reach to assist children get a quality education, improve health and reduce poverty. With each year on the ground lessons are learned and needs of the people change. We take pride in our ability to respond accordingly and redirect our efforts to yield best results.
Volunteer in Ghana
Pagus:Africa works to develop authentic and effective partnerships with disadvantaged schools in rural Ghana. Over the years we have worked closely with four schools in the Volta Region.
We work to ignite imagination and creativity through education at partner schools and though Pagus Center for Achievement, located in Ho. We seek to demonstrate new models of teacher instruction, school leadership and curriculum building, and simultaneously provide individual children access to fun and creative learning opportunities. We offer a unique opportunity for committed volunteers to make a lasting difference.
